Do I earn Social Security credits for babysitting if I get paid by personal check and file a tax return?

My husband has a job with an employer, but I babysit and need 2 more Social Security credits to qualify for Medicare at age 65. I get paid by personal check without any deductions taken out of the pay for taxes.

Does taxable medicare and taxable social security income decrease for pre tax deductions (such as 401k, flex spending) in the same way the federal taxable income decreases?
