G20 leaders from the world’s 20 biggest economies have pledged a crackdown on tax havens as part of the fight to save the global financial system. Just a few months ago they vowed to blacklist the worst offenders, but one of the world’s wealthiest tax havens has managed to avoid any uncomfortable scrutiny. In the third of his special reports, Hamish Macdonald travelled to Jersey, in the Channel Islands.

As part of a new US initiative, tax breaks from the US were supposed to bring hope to millions of Haitians stuck in poverty. But many say it is failing to translate into real benefits for Haitians. Al Jazeera’s Teresa Bo reports from Port-au-Prince at one factory, to see why some workers suggest the new tax breaks benefit the customers in the US, not them.
