Its quite a broad question and will depend on your occupation but there are likely to be lots of personal tax allowances and deductions that you could claim back
Most people don’t end up claiming everything they should and therefore don’t get as much of the THEIR money back from the tax man.
You need to think about all the work related expenses you have incurred during the last financial year. You can claim on things like:
Work related travel, accomodation and meals (e.g. travel between work sites, between jobs, from home to work if taking work items or equipment)
Self study/education expenses related to your job (including travel to and from, accom, meals)
work related clothing and laundry
Magazine subscriptions, journals, books etc related to your industry. Work bag or briefcase…
Accountants costs and cost of travelling to see your accounrat
Cost of keeping a home office, phone, internet if working from home or checking emails at home
There are a whole range of different options – there is a bigger breakdown and some further ideas here http://xpnsit.com.au/testimonial/another-expense-locked-in
if you could let me know your occupation I can provide more specific options
Cheers
Mark
